Wow - it's 2009! Today's economy is taking its toll on the horse
world and the activities equestrians can afford to do, but
that's where United States Pony Club is the bargain of the
Century! For $360 a year, our members attend two meetings a
month (six unmounted and about 16 mounted lessons), they
learn everything there is to know about horses, make
lifelong friends and have a great time doing it! For a
small additional fee, they can attend a incredible pony club
camp, regional activities and anything else we manage to
come up with. If you wanted to take 16 mounted lessons in
Nevada County with a truly professional trainer, the cost
would be more than $900 and that doesn't include all of the
horse management knowledge. Pony Club is worth every penny
and more.
This year we have more terrific events planned. We will
once again hold fundraising car washes and we are working on
a dressage schooling show. Our excellent trainers will
include Shirley Antrobus, Lauren LoPiccolo, Jackie McRae and
Kristin McCallister. Several of our members will be
attending the Pacific Coast Inter-Regional Championships
being held in Auburn, Washington this August.
The other exciting news for 2009 is that our District
Commissioner (that would be me) will be installed as a Board
of Governor for United States Pony Club at our annual
meeting in South Carolina on January 25th. This is a
tremendous honor with only 17 members of the BoG. I will be
working to help promote USPC to young equestrians throughout
the country and bringing back all of the wonderful plans to
our members. I am excited about my new position, but
thrilled to have the opportunity.
I'm looking forward to another exciting pony club year with
Northern Mines!
Your DC, April
